About Summer Start

This is your chance to get ahead of the pack!

Summer Start gives new students a chance to adjust to life on a college campus, before the school year officially begins by helping them to:

  • Become familiar with campus
  • Get to know fellow new students
  • Work with mentors and advisors to plan their academic careers
  • Take classes recommended by their college or program

Any student who is admitted to NC State University is eligible to participate in Summer Start. Take advantage of this unique opportunity to take classes in your specific curriculum, acclimate to campus, and develop strong relationships with faculty and peers.

Summer Start takes place during Summer Session II and consists of 5 weeks of academic and co-curricular activities. We offer a living and learning experience with the invitation to stay in on-campus housing with your fellow peers, convenient to academic and student services buildings. In addition, students will have the opportunity to take up to 8 credit hours of courses, recommended by their college. Outside of class, we offer a large variety of fun events and activities to keep you busy and meeting new people.
