At NC State, course registration for transfer students is completed using the online MyPack Portal system, and can only be completed after consultation with an academic advisor.

Click on your academic program below and follow the instructions to complete your advising and course registration for Fall 2017. 

  • After speaking with an advisor, students may then register for classes using the MyPack Portal system (http://mypack.ncsu.edu).
  • Course sections and available seat listings are found using the Enrollment section within the portal or through the online Schedule of Courses at go.ncsu.edu/class_search.

College of Engineering

For new students in the College of Engineering, follow the instructions below to ensure a smooth advising and course registration process.

ENGINEERING TRANSFER STUDENT ADVISING PROCESS

  • April 15: Admissions Transfer Student Notification Date
  • April – June: Students pay their Advanced Enrollment Deposit (AED) indicating their intention to attend NC State this fall and register for Transfer Orientation.
  • April – June: The College of Engineering assigns academic advisors within 30 days of AED payment.
  • April – June: Students find their assigned academic advisors within in MyPack Portal (MyPack Portal: For Students ‐‐> Academic Records ‐‐> My Advisor). General advising questions (ex. prerequisite course structures, semester‐by‐semester plans, course restriction definitions, ) may be directed to engineering@ncsu.edu at any time, but specific questions (ex. how transfer courses may/may not be used to fulfill degree requirements) should be reserved for assigned advisors.
  • April – June: Students contact their assigned advisor to learn how their department handles transfer advising. Students may be asked to schedule an appointment, visit posted drop‐in advising hours, accept optional email advising, or sign up for a group transfer advising session offered in the department. Walk‐ins are discouraged.  Please keep in mind that fall classes start on August 16; some advisors may request your patience.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Should students be advised before attending Transfer Orientation?
Yes. As detailed above, students should seek advising before Transfer Orientation. Transfer advising will not be available on the day of transfer orientation.

Who should students contact if they have not been assigned an advisor in MyPack Portal 30 days after AED payment?
Students are asked to call 919.515.3263 to alert the College of Engineering that they are a transfer student who has paid their AED fee more than 30 days ago and request to be assigned an advisor. The College of Engineering will confirm the date of AED payment and arrange advising accordingly.

Should students register for courses before attending Transfer Student Orientation? 
Yes. Students should register for courses before Orientation. An academic advisor will need to release the advising hold prior to students being able to register for courses.

Who should students contact in their college with advising and course registration questions?
Students should contact their assigned advisor within MyPack Portal, if listed. Otherwise, advisors in the office of Academic Affairs (engineering@ncsu.edu) are available for general advising and registration questions.

College of Humanities and Social Sciences
