Housing and Hotels for Families

Welcome to NC State!

You have several options to consider when making overnight accommodations for Family Orientation. You may pay to stay in an on-campus residence hall or make an off-campus reservation at a local hotel. NOTE: Housing is NOT included in any of the new student fees that cover Orientation programs.

ON-CAMPUS HOUSING OPTIONS:

Reservations in Avent Ferry Complex are available to you if you are traveling to Raleigh and need space to sleep on campus during your student’s orientation session.

  • You must be registered to attend Family Orientation to stay on campus.
  • Avent Ferry Complex is conveniently located off of Western Boulevard, and is around .5-1 mile away to most on-campus attractions.
  • Reservations must be made five business days in advance through Conference Services and pre-payment is required. Space is limited, and early reservations are encouraged.
  • Room information includes:
    • Rooms available at Avent Ferry Complex are basic dorm room accommodations available at $40 per room,  per night, and can be reserved for either one night or two nights, including the night prior to your student’s first day at Orientation.
    • Each room contains 2 XL twin beds and basic dorm furniture. If you are traveling with more than 2 people (or if your student will spend the night prior to their orientation session with you, exceeding the 2-guest capacity), you will either need to reserve a second room or bring accommodations for them to be comfortable in the 2-bed dorm room
    • Before you register, please use this virtual tour link to find an adequate representation of what a room at Avent Ferry looks like. For your own comfort, we encourage families to bring their own linen/pillows with them, but linen packs can be added to your reservation for a one-time fee of $20 per pack.
  • Check-in must occur between 5:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m. Sunday through Thursday, and check-out times are from 8:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m. Tuesday through Friday. The desk at Avent Ferry is not staffed outside of these times, but there is a key drop box for after-hours check-outs.
  • If you have registered for your Family Orientation parking permit, this permit covers the Avent Ferry lot for both of your session days, and the night before your session (no earlier than 5:00 p.m.).

If you have additional questions regarding on-campus housing, please review answers to frequently asked questions or reach out to the Conference Services office at 919.515.4398 or guestservices@ncsu.edu.

Our registration portal for accommodations is live! Fill out your request form here and make sure to select 2024 Family Orientation Housing from the drop down menu.

Please make sure that the family member (not the student) is the one who fills out the form and that you are not using an ncsu.edu email address.

On-campus housing for families is not available during the August Orientation or International Orientation sessions occurring August 14-16. Alternatively, you can find a list of area hotels that offer discounts to NC State family members on the Parents and Families Services website.
