First-Year Writing Placement for Transfers

Transfer students with credits in composition (ENG 1**) from institutions attended previously should carefully review the First-Year Writing Program’s policies on transfer credit. Please note that the First-Year Writing Program cannot assess transfer credits until the University has received and audited transcripts from students’ prior institutions and posted appropriate credit for those courses to students’ degree audits.

Although most students’ questions can be addressed by their assigned academic advisors during advising meetings or at Transfer Orientation, issues or concerns related to placement in and/or credit for first-year writing courses at NC State may be directed to Roy Stamper, Associate Director of the First-Year Writing Program, at roy_stamper@ncsu.edu.
