Transfer Career Cohort

Join New Student Programs and the Career Development Center in exploring your career identity in the Transfer Career Cohort. The program is a year-long certificate series that provides you the opportunity to explore your sense of personal identity, major, co-curricular experiences, and career trajectory through targeted workshops, one-on-one meetings with a Career Identity Coach, and cohort socials to connect with other participants.

Certificate Completion Requirements

Complete the Focus 2 Career Assessment and the six core workshops

  • Personal and Professional Values Exploration
  • Focus 2 Assessment and Interpretation
  • Visioning Your Future
  • The Millennial Workplace: The Career Competencies
  • Master Academic Plan
  • Roadmap to Your Career
Complete at least one elective workshop

  • Stress Management (monthly)
  • Work/Life Balance
  • High Impact Experiences Panel
  • So You Want to Help Society Panel
  • Guest Speaker Events
Meet with your Career Identity Coach two times per semester

  • Optional: Attend Cohort socials to network with other participants


Who can apply?

Transfer students who began at NC State during the summer and fall 2018 semesters are eligible to participate.

How much of a time commitment is this?

Participants will dedicate approximately 12 hours to the program over the full academic year.

How big is the cohort of participants?

The cohort will consist of 12-15 transfer students.

When are workshops, and how long do they last?

Most workshops are one hour long, and offered multiple times a semester. Stress Management workshops will be 30 minutes long. Panels and guest speakers will vary. See the schedule of workshops offered this fall below:

Do I need to complete the whole thing?

Yes! In order to receive the certificate and total value of the program, it is a year-long commitment.

When can I schedule meetings with my Career Coach?

Meetings with your career coach can be scheduled Monday- Fridays between 8:00am-5:00pm. Participants will be sent a link to sign up for meetings upon registration.

What do I get at the end?

At the completion of the year-long program, participants are invited to take part in an End- of-Year Celebration and receive a certificate of completion to celebrate their journey and acknowledge their commitment to developing their career pathway.
