For students living on campus in Tucker Hall, details for move in can be found below:

*NOTE: To ease traffic congestion, it is recommended students with last names beginning with A-K arrive between 9:00-11:30am and students with last names beginning with L-Z arrive between 11:30am-2:00pm. However, students are able to Move In outside of these recommended times and should plan to arrive between 9:00am-2:00pm as their schedule permits.
The following are directions to assist families and students with parking for Summer Start move-in on Wednesday, June 22. Please note: Due to the NC State Transportation system, you will need to register for a parking permit for Move-In Day:
NC State guest parking permits are now virtual, so please follow the directions below, and no paper parking permit is needed. Your license plate is your virtual permit!
Important notes prior to registering for your parking permits:
- This permit is free for guests, and you should not need to enter credit card information. If you use a credit card to purchase another permit in error, refunds are not available.
- Accessible parking is available. It is only valid when a state-issued placard is displayed in your vehicle and you have registered for an accessible virtual permit through NC State (instructions below).
- If you need to change which vehicle you are bringing, call the NC State Transportation office at 919.515.3424 to edit your permit.
- If you will be using a rental car, wait to register for a virtual permit once you have the vehicle and its license plate information.
To obtain your VIRTUAL parking permit FOR JUNE 22, please:
- Visit Go.ncsu.edu/EventParking
- Ensure you are logged out of your parking account.
- Select “Purchase Event Permit”
- Agree to the Terms of Service
- Select “Move In”
- Select Summer Start 2022
- When prompted, enter Start2022 as the Event Voucher Code. The code is case sensitive and must be entered exactly as shown.
- Select Confirm.
- Select the available Permit Type
- Select/Confirm your parking date. Select Confirm.
- Select Location
- Select “Add Vehicle”. Enter vehicle license plate, state, year, make, and model.
- Review information entered for accuracy and select Add.
- Enter the client name and phone number. Select Confirm.
- Select Continue.
- Enter email address to receive confirmation of parking permit.
- Review information. Select Checkout
Remember, the permit is virtual, your license plate is your permit. Permit is valid only for the vehicle entered. Permit is not valid in paid parking locations.
Are you driving a rental car? If so, please wait to obtain your parking permit until after you have received your rental car. Vehicle license plates cannot be changed once entered. You must obtain your parking permit before leaving your vehicle unattended on campus.

- Directions to Holmes Hall (2751 Cates Ave., Raleigh, NC 27607) can be found on the NC State Campus Map interactive website.
- Due to construction on campus, to assist in a smooth Move In experience, please enter Cates Avenue from Morrill Drive.
- Please do not try to enter campus via Dan Allen Drive from Hillsborough Street or Western Blvd. The road is also gated and not accessible from 8:00am to 5:00pm.
- Transportation, Summer Start and University Housing staff will be on-site to direct you to the drop off areas near Tucker Hall. There will be signs along Cates Ave. to guide you
- Visit the University Transportation website for road construction updates/closings
- Transportation, Summer Start and University Housing staff will be on-site to direct you to the drop off areas near Tucker Hall along Cates Ave.
- Once in the drop off area, staff members will direct you to Holmes Hall for Summer Start and residence hall check-in to receive your room key.
- You must have a government-issued ID (e.g., driver’s license, etc.) to check into University Housing and receive your key. Additionally, please make sure to have your emergency contact information, as it may be requested by University Housing during the check-in process.
- As you are receiving your room key, staff members will assist you and/or your family in unloading your vehicle to expedite the drop off process, as you can expect to have approximately 15 minutes to unload your vehicle. After unloading your vehicle, you will be required to move your vehicle to the Coliseum Parking Deck.
- Get your Wolfpack One Card (student ID) made as soon as you have moved in! Stop by the Wolfpack One Card Office (located in the main lobby of Talley Student Union) with a government-issued ID. Your student ID will be the way you access Tucker Hall throughout the summer.
If you are interested in a parking permit that allows you to park on-campus during the summer, please visit the NC State Transportation website for more information. Note: This is different than the Move-In parking permit mentioned above.
You should wait until approximately June 22 to purchase your parking permit and select the “Full Summer” option. The costs will be prorated from $75 to approximately $50; however, this will allow you to park on-campus from your Move-In (June 22) to early August.
